Sensor readings are collected into a PostgreSQL database, via a Redis queue, managed by a Python and Go based server framework.
The custom built gateway units collect data from sensors up to 3km distant (theoretically up to 10km) and forward the data to central systems over encrypted internet links.
Sensors measure temperature, humidity, soil pH and insolation. Other sensor types may be added. The sensor core unit has an expected battery life of 3 to 5 years.
