The challenge

Integrate three different locking units from three different manufacturers, working at two different voltages with and entirely incompatible RFID and command protocols. Existing solutions assume universal deployment of a single manufacturer's locking system with no provision for integrating legacy equipment or unsupported cabinet types.

The solution

Design, build and program a custom lock unit controller, supporting UART, Weigand, ModBus, CANBus and generic RS485 connectivity, with a translation layer that makes all locking units operate in the same way from the perspective of the user.

To the best of my knowledge, the first successfully deployed application in it's class.
